Atrium Building at Night

  • This seven-story new building connected to a regional medical center and provided much needed additional space for physician practices and hospital support functions.

  • The lower level Wellness Center provided exercise facilities that proved to be valuable as a physician recruiting incentive and served as a patient wellness and rehabilitation center.

  • Tenant spaces wrap around a seven-story atrium with a grand window with views to Downtown and the Illinois River. Each floor was planned to accommodate large and small tenants.

  • A grand open stair at ground floor level provides access to the fully-equipped Wellness Center on the lower level, with views to an exterior garden.

  • The lower level pool has its own air conditioning system to isolate chlorine fumes, and the building design includes a sophisticated dual duct air supply system to ensure tenant comfort in all areas of the building.

  • Role: Prior to the formation of Klump Architecture, Phil Klump was responsible for the programming, planning, design and construction administration of this new building and all of its tenant spaces. Phil also served as Manager of the Design Team.

  • Project Size: 70,000 sq. ft. of new space.

  • Project Status: Building construction completed 1990; tenant spaces construction completed 1992.
