Additions and Renovations
Wheatland, Wyoming

Additions to and renovations of existing spaces in this Critical Access Hospital included the following:

  • New 24 bed Inpatient Unit, including modality adaptable patient rooms, Nurse Server cabinets at each room, decentralized nurse charting alcoves, new Pharmacy, LDR rooms and Nursery

  • New Surgery Department, including state-of-the-art OR and Outpatient Prep and Recovery Suite

  • New Lobby and Outpatient Services Suite

  • New Imaging Department, including CT, Radiography/Fluoroscopy, Mammography and Ultrasound rooms

  • New Central Plant, including new boilers, water treatment, pumps and generator

  • A Comprehensive Facility Master Plan was developed to allow phased construction as funding allowed

New Main Entry
  • Project Size: 24,600 sq. ft. of new space and 7,800 sq. ft. of renovated space
  • Cost: $18 million total construction cost
  • Project Status: Construction started 2004, Final Phases completed and occupied, 2009

Typical Inpatient Unit Corridor

Funds available for this Project were limited to an average of $4 million per year. The Master Facility Plan prepared by Klump Architecture allowed for phased construction over a
5-year period to accommodate this constraint, while the Hospital remained fully operational throughout the construction process.
