To meet the increasing need for MRI testing, this new Diagnostic Center was located adjacent to and between the Imaging and Emergency Departments, and incorporates a patient-sensitive and comforting environment that makes extensive use of wood and earth-toned colors, and furnishings. The new MRI facility includes:

  • One finished MRI Room and space for a second to be finished in the future

  • Two Patient Preparation and Recovery Rooms

  • MRI support spaces

  • New Conference and Staff Break rooms for the Emergency Department

Also part of the scope of this Project on the floor above were:

  • Two new Progressive Care Rooms, including the first state-of-the-art Bariatric Patient Room for the Hospital

  • New staff support spaces for the Progressive Care Unit

  • New storage areas located to allow for future expansion of the Surgery Department

  • Corridors have wood plank-look flooring and warm earth tone wall finishes

  • Project Size: 7,000 sq. ft. of renovated spaces and 11,000 sq. ft. of new spaces
  • Project Status: Completed and Occupied, 2011

MRI Scanner Room

The MRI Rooms have large windows that open into skylit courtyards, allowing daylight and sunlight to access the below grade location. The finished MRI Room has backlit photo panels above the scanner and wood plank-look flooring to soften the impact of the technology.

The exterior of the addition is finished with cement stucco to match adjacent stucco and precast concrete finishes
