The Master Facility Plan developed for this Community Hospital serving northeastern Colorado included the following:

  • A 20 year plan that directed the growth and expansion of this facility from 135,000 sq. ft. of existing hospital, clinics and medical offices to a state of the art facility of 208,000 sq. ft.
  • A reordering of facilities that met primary Owner objectives to replace the outdated Inpatient Unit and Emergency Department, and to create new consolidated Outpatient Clinic and Physician Office spaces.
  • Closure of an existing city street to allow for a consolidated hospital campus with opportunities for properly organized growth.
  • Relocation of all Outpatient oriented services to be organized along the main Level One Public Hospital Corridor.
  • Replacement of the existing 33 bed Inpatient and Intensive Care Units of undersized single and double occupancy rooms with state of the art single occupancy adaptable modality Acute Care rooms in a new 33 bed Inpatient and ICU Unit with decentralized Nurse Charting and a patient centered family oriented design. Each new private patient room is designed to be attractive and spacious with an attached toilet/shower room, desk, cabinets and built-in visitor's quarters and staff work spaces.
  • Replacement of the existing 2,700 sq. ft. 3 bed existing Labor/Delivery/Recovery Unit with a larger and better organized 5,600 sq. ft. 3 bed department with improved functional flows and expanded support facilities.
  • Replacement of the existing undersized 4,700 sq. ft. Emergency Department with a new 5,400 sq. ft. state of the art facility with covered and separated ambulatory and ambulance entrances and an adjacent helipad. This new location achieved a primary Owner goal of separating the Emergency Department from the Main Hospital Outpatient/Visitor Entrance while creating a more functional and better organized department.
  • Redesign of the existing South Hospital Entrance to be the main entrance for visitors and patients with a new canopy, adjacent Gift Shop, Admitting, Registration and Outpatient Diagnostics (Pre Admission Testing) functions and significant improvements to entry drives, parking areas, landscaping and signage. " Replacement of scattered and remote physician office spaces and clinics with a new Medical Office Building attached to the hospital and sized to accommodate physician growth.
  • Role: Klump Architecture began the Master Facility Planning services to this client, which were completed by Phil Klump with Klump Brinkley Architecture.
